~Interview with Tawny!~
Hey Tawny!  Before we start the interview, I just want to say thank you for appearing here on the blog! We're excited to have you visit and hopefully any readers out there will be full of questions. I'll start em' off for you, and you take it from there!
~
What group did you hang out with in high school?

I never wanted to be categorized in high school LOL. I had friends in all of the cliques, but didn’t hang out with any of them. In my senior year I dated a cowboy, though, so did spend a lot of time with him and his truck-driving, wrangler-wearing, boot-scooting buddies.

Ha! I had a best friend like that in college. In fact, I named this blog after her! She got me into mud bogging, country music, and of course the cowboys, but I have to admit, I could never pull off the boots like she could. So tell me, what are you passionate about these days?

Meditation. It keeps me from getting too crazy about everything else. I found an amazing meditation program a year or so ago called HeadSpace and have used it daily for over 500 days. Meditation not only keeps the stress at bay, but it’s a great help with writing. I do a quickie 20-minute meditation before my writing session to clear my head, to get everything out of the way so I can focus on the story.

So relaxing! I need to figure out something like that to keep me focused. I feel like I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off half the time. I need a little Ooohmmmm in my life to calm things down. So, if you had to do your journey to getting published all over again, what would you do differently?

I would probably have done a lot more networking and learned a lot more about marketing. Other than wishing I’d sold my first book a little sooner than I did, I really am happy with my publishing journey. I think the only thing I’d change is that I’d probably have found the time to write more books in a secondary sub-genre (sexy, light paranormal) at the same time I was building my SEALs so I could bounce back and forth.

Ebook or print? And why?

I’m happy to be published in both, and in audio, but my reading preference is print except at bedtime. Then, since those little reading lights always fall off the book for some reason, I’ve gotten hooked on ebook because they are backlit and won’t wake my husband if I read into the night.

That makes total sense. I always find myself on my phone at bedtime, sometimes reading...sometimes with Netflix...But at heart, I have to say I'm a print girl. For some reason, the ebooks just don't stick. I forget about them as soon as I'm done. With print, I feel like I just retain things more. Maybe because I'm forced to look at it all day until I finish! lol :) What is your favorite scene in this book?

My favorite scene in CALL TO HONOR is the after dinner scene between Harper and Diego when she tells him the story of her past, then seduces him. I really enjoyed writing his struggle to resist, and her determination to win. Since that scene also blew a few of his preconceived beliefs about her, it was not only pivotal but a lot of fun.

I love that! I'll definitely have to check out Harper and Diego's story. It sounds like a really emotional one! Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you have a blast on your virtual tour!
~Try an Excerpt!~
Harper’s frown intensified. All of this dating and sex talk was stupid. All it did was stir up thoughts of Brandon, bad memories and hurt feelings. And like anything to do with Brandon Ramsey, the second one thought occurred, a million followed. He was the poster boy for taking a mile when an inch was all she’d offered.

No more, she ordered herself. He wasn’t a part of her now, and her past was over.

“Registered letter for one Mr. Nathan Ramsey, care of Harper Maclean,” Andi said, coming back waving a large envelope. “Who’d get his name wrong?”

The bowl of cleaned berries suddenly shaking in her hands, Harper set it on the bar with care and stared. Her chest hurt. She couldn’t think for the buzzing in her ears.

Ramsey.

Harper’s heart raced so fast, it tripped over itself. How was that possible? Why would Brandon contact Nathan? As far as he knew, she’d followed his instructions to end the pregnancy. How did he know she’d had the baby? How did he know Nathan’s name? Had he always known?

The air locked in Harper’s chest, vicious and tight, cutting off her breath, sending shards of pain knifing through her.

Why was he contacting her? Contacting Nathan?  Was he going to try to get custody?

Or had his parents gotten wind of unaccounted Ramsey DNA and tracked down their heir apparent?

Harper looked toward the stairs with a desperate gaze. She should get Nathan. They should go. Now.

As soon as she thought that, Harper squared her shoulders.

To hell with that. Nathan was her son. This was her home. She’d be damned if Brandon or his rich parents were going to screw with either.

Still, her hand trembled so much as she took the letter that she dropped it onto the marble countertop as if it were on fire.

“Harper,” Andi moaned. “You’re killing me. Open. Open. Open.”

Knowing Andi would keep it up until she did, she huffed out a hot breath. Sliding her thumbnail under the flap, Harper reluctantly tugged the paper out.

She noted the official-looking insignia and the fancy lettering denoting it to be from Admiral H. M. Cree, Special Ops commander.

Her brow creased as she read.

The room narrowed, and all the air disappeared. The words spun into a swirling blur of black on white. She needed to sit down. But she managed only a single step before her legs gave out and she sank to the floor, the letter clutched in her hands.

“What is it?” Instead of pulling her back up, Andi dropped down next to her, gathering Harper into her arms. She tried to read the paper, but Harper couldn’t let it go. “Sweetie, what does it say?”

“He’s dead,” Harper murmured, her voice sounding as if it were coming from the other end of a long tunnel. “Brandon is dead.”
